As so often, Patric has been spot on.
Something was indeed rotten in the state of the Seychelles.
Turns out that the Shark that fatally struck a tourist was not a foreign GW but a local Bull Shark. Gotta love the Shark experts who made the wrong ID - so much for unmistakably!
Story here.
Kudos to Mahmood for providing the correct answers.
The learning curve however appears to be flat.
Despite of Mr. Cliff's totally botched diagnosis, it now appears that the Authorities will continue to rely on "expert" advice from SA's infamous KNZSB and are planning to set up shark nets. As for the ludicrous claim that those would be tailor made (presumably to catch only Bull Sharks), read this.

Thank you, thank you very much I will be here all week, please tip your waitress.
Seriously, I asked before and never got a straight answer, who were the so called S.A shark experts who called it a white shark in the first place?
Google "Seychelles shark expert" & u'll find "Jeremy Cliff, head of research at the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board in South Africa" and Mike Anderson-Reade.
E.g. here
As in, "Marine biologists Geremy Cliff and Mike Anderson-Reade said Mr Redmond's injuries indicated that he was probably attacked by a Great White."
You just know these two will now say they were "misquoted" or taken out of context...tell that to the several hundred sharks the Seychelles wiped out over the ensuing weeks in the hunt for a "rogue white shark".
