Wow!
We're currently hosting underwater photography royalty, and we were chatting about how the pros are being hurt by the hordes of camera toting amateurs, and how capturing, let alone selling unique pics from places like, say, TB has become virtually impossible.
And here comes this masterpiece by Marty Wolff.

The recipe?
Like I said here, it starts with being a real photographer as opposed to just wanting to depict reality. But having witnessed him doing so, it then very much continues in post-production where Marty will apply his signature saturation and then something else that I'm not at liberty to disclose - tho a closer look at the Bull Shark pic may point you in the right direction. Add a sprinkling of experience and ideas about altered states of perception- et voilà, c'est servi!
Needless to say that I really like the dude! :)

Lucky Men

Meet Marty Wolff!

According to one of his pals, Marty has a streak of sea luck a mile long. I'm surprised the tiger didn't show.
Well, none did - but whereas Timbo had to make do with a few, albeit large Bull Sharks, Marty came for only one measly day of Shark diving and got swamped! 25 Bull Sharks at the end of September is just simply unheard of!

He may have been incredibly lucky - but once presented with the opportunity, being the consummate photo pro he obviously is, he sure knew how to capitalize on it! Mind you, nobody gets close to the biggies on his very first day of Shark diving - and yet, Marty did manage to capture some truly memorable Bull Shark vistas which I'll be certainly using on this blog.

For now, I've chosen this remarkable capture of Manasa and his Grey Reefs - click on it, it's just simply fabulous!

Titled Passing Fancy, it is a whole story in itself.
Among many other things, it is also a tribute to Papa's incredible luck, willpower and discipline. Yes, it's now two years since he had a fatal heart failure and was very fortuitously resurrected by the prompt intervention of a passer-by. What followed were months of treatment, some of which radical, and a complete change of lifestyle and dietary regime.

Papa is now back where he belongs, among his beloved Sharks.
Being relegated to the shallows only, he has made the best of his predicament and re-modeled the small Shark feeds from what was essentially an afterthought into a stunning show where clients have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our most visually stunning little friends - to the point where the 4m feed may well be called the coolest safety stop in the world!

Feast your Eyes!

There are heaps of underwater photographers.
Most seem happy to just depict what is but some are artists who always add a special dimension, like the totally unique and forever unequaled Wolfgang. And some, like Sasha, take the time to engage in proper post production by creative cropping and great proficiency with Photoshop.

And then, there's lucky man Marty Wolff.
He has clearly been a professional terrestrial photographer for a very long time and brings to the table the whole gamut of pure and simple total mastery of his trade whereby he always knows exactly how to handle the situation by creatively playing with the parameters of framing, lighting and exposure via shutter speed and lens speed - as it should be but is apparently all too often forgotten!
On top of that, he's a master of post production and I just so happen to be a total fan of the exact same color saturation and temperature he chooses to apply , in some ways very Botelho!

Everything is a feast for the eyes, including the Marine section where some of the pics just blow me away - I mean, seriously, just look at that stuff, amazing! That's how you do it!
